Tractor Junction(TJ) is India’s leading digital marketplace for Farmers. TJ helps farmers to buy, sell, finance, insure and service new/used tractor and farm equipment. It has revolutionized the Indian tractor industry by bringing transparency on pricing, information and comparison of tractors, farm equipment and related financial products. Tractor Junction aims at providing everything about tractors and farm equipment on a single platform!

TECHNOLOGY BRIEF

TJ aims to become the go to website for all tractors and farm equipment related requirements of the farmers. The plan is to make the website and its value proposition so attractive and sticky that it keeps pulling more and more farmers on to the website. Once achieved, various products related to tractor and farm equipment can be sold through the website as listed below.
Different ways for generating revenues for TJ are:
Leads and OEM marketing business– Getting maximum traffic on the website to generate maximum leads possible. Leads are potential customers for Tractors, farm equipment, finance, insurance and tractor service. Leads can be monetized from the various businesses as its customers. Similarly, more viewers on the website will result in more advertisement revenues from OEMs.
Used tractor platform – A platform where farmers can sell and buy used tractors. TJ plans to purchase the used tractors (after doing a thorough technical analysis) from the dealers/farmers and sell it to brokers/farmers at a margin. The industry is large yet is highly unorganized. TJ plans to organize the used tractor space.
TJ insurance and credit products – Revenue can be generated from selling insurance for new tractors and farm equipment and as an NBFC, selling credit products for new and used tractors on the TJ website.

Value chain for farm machinery purchase is highly opaque with Dealers keeping the pricing hidden and selling tractors at a different rate to different farmers. Along with that, right information about the tractors is not available with the farmers because of which a lot of mis-selling happens in India. Tractor Junction aims at revolutionizing the Indian tractor industry by bringing transparency on pricing, information and comparison of tractors, farm equipment and related financial products. For example, in Rajasthan, Massey is the most preferred brand for tractors and because of which dealers sometimes take undue advantage by charging more. A typical Massey tractor in Rajasthan is sold in the range of 5.75 lakh to 6 lakh per tractor. TJ has been able to help the sales of about 700 Massey tractors in Rajasthan where farmers have been getting benefit up to 7% in each transaction thus helping them reduce their cost. Farmers are also getting benefitted in the second hand tractor purchase where Tractor Junction as a brand is guaranteeing the quality of the second hand tractor and alleviating the concerns for farmers.

Tractor Junction generates leads for tractors and various farm equipment. The leads generated are tagged to the location of the farmers, thereby giving visibility to the OEMs to manage their supply chain. As we have started tagging the leads to the location recently, we don’t have any numbers to quantify for the impact that we have created on the value chain. But we believe that once we keep capturing more and more location tagged leads, it can give a broad picture of tractor and farm equipment industry of India and will help many OEMs and financial institutions in making their operations efficient.
